Post subject:  To Apply: Step 1 of 2

Before you apply to Burning Sensations, you may have a few questions about us and who we are. Here is a short collection of questions and answers.

Q) What is Burning Sensations recruiting at this time?

A) As of 1/31/10 I have opened recruitment for the inevitability that Hard Mode ICC will be too much to handle for some of our players causing their true colors of casual or just simply their inner terrible to show. That being said I'm looking to acquire some back up applicants. These people will remain out of guild simply as sleepers until I call on them as needed. However if you would prefer to join the guild and wait for the opportunity to arise while participating in our several guild pug runs then that is fine and almost preferable because we'd get to assess your ability before even bringing you into the guild runs.

Death Knight – Open.
Druid – Open.
Hunter – Open.
Mage – Open.
Paladin – Open.
Priest – Open.
Rogue – Open.
Shaman – Open.
Warlock – Open.
Warrior – Open.

Again these positions are not immediate raid positions unless I feel that our current raiders in the position you are applying for are too weak and would like to get you in to see how you do immediately.

Q) What are Burning Sensations raid times?

A) We raid Sunday through Monday from 8pm - 1am Server Times (CST). Eventually when there is enough content to warrant doing so we will pick up Thursday into our raiding schedule which will likely occur once hard mode ICC becomes available around February 9th and the raid time on Thursday will be from 9pm - 1am. At this point in the game if there is any day you are completely unable to attend chances are your application will not be accepted but it never hurts to try.

Q) Just who is Burning Sensations?

A) Burning Sensations was formed just before the release of The Burning Crusade by a group of friends who had been raiding together through Classic content. With the release of TBC, two core groups of players came together to create the foundation of the raiding guild that carried them through the majority of TBC content. While the guild has seen many changes throughout its several-year history, the core of the guild and our goals are still intact.

Q) Okay, so you guys have been around for awhile. Just what have you accomplished in these years and what are your goals?

A) Originally, our goal for Burning Sensations was to simply clear instances before the next ones were released. That soon changed when we got most of the way through Serpentshrine Cavern and came to the realization that we were spending much less time on bosses than other guilds we considered better than us. Once we got our "raiding legs," we blew through content at a surprising pace, even before any major nerfs. When we killed Kael'thas in only three nights of attempts—and before he received any nerfs—we surpassed all but the top guilds on the server. Our goal shifted to becoming the best raiding guild on the server, and since then we've been a top presence on the server. We continue to kill all content presented to us before major nerfs.

Q) So what kind of applicants is Burning Sensations looking for?

A) Burning Sensations is looking for players who know their classes. Players who spend time on EJ keeping up to date with the newest ideas, working out rotations on dummies, testing gearing choices and specs on spreadsheets and discussing these topics with guild mates of your class. We want our raiders to be competitive with each other, constantly pushing each other to new heights while still doing the jobs they are meant to be doing.

We want people who will be able to maintain a high level of attendance; this goes for all our members and double for our applicants. If you cannot maintain a 90% attendance rate, the chances of your application being successful drop drastically. During progression we raid five nights a week until the new content is cleared, after which raids drop to just a few nights a week. Therefore, asking for 90% attendance is hardly a high expectation in this game.

Raid awareness, aside from attendance, is the one thing that will make or break an applicant faster than anything else. Players who tunnel vision are a burden. How high your DPS or healing is means little when you are face down at 50% because you didn't notice you were standing in fire. We want raiders who not only react when they are in danger but when others are as well. A player who immediately moves out of fire, void zone, lightning, etc. and continues doing his job is a raider. A player who sees another player snared/rooted in the path of an instant gib and saves them without harming their own performance is an asset. The question you need to ask yourself before proceeding to the actual application is: Which are you?

We expect our players to squeeze every bit of DPS out of their pixels as they can. A DPS who has two gathering professions is a player who puts little value in maximizing his DPS and thus clearly must not care enough to be among the first to receive the shiny new weapon or various other upgrades.

Lastly, we want players who want to be raiders. When the time comes for raid and you are on an alt moaning about having to log over, you clearly don't want to be there. Attitude is contagious—a raider who is pissy or angry will make those around him anxious and high strung as well and no one enjoys raiding in that sort of environment. If you can't have a decent attitude about what you do, then how can you really care about what you're doing?

Q) How long is the application process in Burning Sensations?

A) The answer to this question is entirely dependent on you. The better a raider, player, and guild mate you are, the faster you will clear your initiate status.

Q) So if I make it into the guild’s raider ranks, how does the loot system work?

A) Burning Sensations uses an officer loot system based on several factors such as attendance, performance, attitude, degree of upgrade, etc.

Q) So what else does the guild do aside from 25-man raiding?

A) When we aren't doing our scheduled raids, we are often doing a variety of things such as 10-man groups (alt and main), alt 25-man raids, arenas, battlegrounds, old content for fun, other games, or even just hanging around in Vent being social.

Q) Alright, sounds like a good match. How do I apply?

A) To apply you simply need to fill out this application template by copying and pasting it to a new thread in our recruitment forum. Make sure to completely fill out the template with more than just the bare minimum required. The more polish you put in the app, the more it looks like you care; the amount of time you put into the application is directly proportionate to the amount of time and thought I put into your reply. Lastly, be patient. I don't mind a few questions, but I've had my share of stalkers in-game and the more you annoy me about you application, the lower your chances of me giving you news you want to hear.
